Rubber glove stocks rise in response to China bird flu outbreak
ERJ staff report (LMH)
Kuala Lumpur – Investors are accumulating shares of rubber glove manufacturers in anticipation that an outbreak of bird flu in China will create extra demand for their products, Chong Jin Hun reports in The Edge Malaysia.
Malaysian glove makers Top Glove Corp Bhd and Supermax Corp Bhd saw their stocks rise by 4.4 percent and 4.5 percent respectively, while Rubberex Corp Bhd’s stocks grew by 9%, The Edge said.
The website reported that while the actual increase in the use of gloves is not immediate, it is expected that increased use of gloves in the coming months will prompt healthcare firms to increase inventory of the product.
