ERJ staff report (BC)
Assago, Italy - Assocomaplast, the trade association representing 165 Italian manufacturers of rubber and plastics processing machinery and moulds, forecasts a sector outcome for the full year 2012 close to results for 2007, the industry's best year ever.
The association expects production to be worth around 4.2 billion euros, with exports around 2.6 billion euros.
The export prediction is based on foreign trade data from the Italian National Institute of Statistics for the first nine months of 2012.
Assocomaplast's analysis of Italian export destinations for the sector confirms Europe in first place and increasing in volume. The Americas are also increasing strongly, while increasing trends in sales to the Far East and Africa are reported as weaker. The Middle East has shown a decrease.
On imports, the association notes a modest increase in imports of 2%, described as “impressive, given the prolonged crisis in the domestic marketâ€.
