Kolkata - Apollo Tyres has launched XTRAX 40.00-57, claimed to be the largest tire produced in India, at the 11th International Mining and Machinery Exhibition (IMME) 2012 in Kolkata. Each of these tyres weighs 3500kg and is 3.6m high.
Used on 240 tonne dumper trucks for mining applications, each tire is manufactured using 1900kg of rubber, 750kg of carbon black, 350kg of nylon fabric and 500kg of other rubber additives.
The tires are being cured at Apollo's Limda plant in Gujarat, which the company says has one of the biggest curing presses available in Southeast Asia.
