Dr Salmiah Ahmad elected chairman of IRRDB

Thiruvananthapuram, India -- The International Rubber Research and Development Board (IRRDB) has elected Dr Salmiah Ahmad, Director General, Malaysian Rubber Board, as its new Chairman during its 2 Nov meeting in Kovalam, India.
IRRDB also appointed Dr James Jacob, Director, Rubber Research Institute of India (RRII), as the Vice Chairman and Dr Jacob Mathew, Deputy Director, RRII, as the Liaison Officer of Environment Specialist Group of IRRDB.
It has also been decided that Dr James Jacob will succeed Ahmad as Chairman after her two year term.
Ahmad took charge as the Director General of Malaysian Rubber Board in 2008 and had formerly been the Deputy Director General of Malaysian Palm Oil Board.
Jacob had been Vice Chairman of IRRDB for the past three years. He has also served as the Liaison Officer of Physiology Specialist Group of IRRDB. He has been serving as the Director of RRII for the past six years.
