Dundee, Scotland -- Michelin has said it will make a significant announcement about an investment at its Dundee plant later today. Michelin's UK managing director, Eric Le Corre will escort Scotland's First Minister, Alex Salmond on a tour of the plant, after which the two men will annonce the investment programme, rumoured to be in the multi-million euro range, at around 1pm local time today.
Local press reported that the investment will secure the eisting 700 jobs at the plant, and add a further 100 in the manufacture of winter tyres. This implies there will be a new mixing unit for silica based compounds, but Michelin declined to comment on the speculation.
