Tatneft ramps up all-steel radial manufacture

Nizhnekamsk, Tartarstan -- Nizhnekamsk tyre factory is ramping up production of all-steel radial truck tyres at its new plant, based on Continental's manufacturing technology. The company is making a limited range already, but will expand the range in the near future. Off-take production of Continental-brand tyres began in January this year.
Currently the company is making seven models of tyres in various sizes. By the end of this year it expects to bring out a further four models, which will bring the plant to full capacity of 1.2 million units/year.
In comparison with the semi-steel and textile constructions, the new all-steel radials can carry 8 percent mre load per tyre and reduce fuel consumption by around 10 percent. A test by local tyre specialist magazine reported fuel consumptino of 30 litres/100km.
The Company has put into production tyres of model 12,00 R20 NR 701 and 2 models NF 202 and NR 202 in the size 315/70R 22.5. The Kama Series N Tires of 202 classification are designed for use on asphalt coat, rough terrain and dirt roads. The NF abbreviation stands for the use of tyres to be installed on the front axle, while NR means installation on the rear axle.
