Comparative tyre data available for car, van tyres
ERJ staff report (DS)
London -- The campaign for Better Tyres has published Dutch Government comparative data on car and van tyres, covering energy efficiency, noise and safety performance.
One chart lists data on winter and all-season tyres, comparing wet grip, rolling resistance and noise - the three parameters monitored by the EU consumer tyre label. It compares the performance of 45 winter tyres tested in Autumn 2009 and 11 all-season tyres tested in Spring 2010 against EU labelling requirements. The chart highlights in green the tyres which meet the forthcoming requirements fo A, B and C limits on wet grip and rolling resistance and which also meet the noise criteria. It highliights in yellow those tyres which meet minimum criteria, but in the E and F categories and also meet tthe noise criteria. No tyre is highlighted in red, as failing to meet the requirements.
A second chart lists 20 van tyres tested in Autumn 2010 for the same criteria. Again, no tyre is listed in the red category.
