Henniges Automotive to close Canadian plant
ERJ staff report (R&PN)
Farmington Hills, Michigan -- Henniges Automotive said it will close its Welland, Ontario, automotive rubber sealing plant, and consolidate operations at its other facilities in Canada, the US and Mexico.
In a brief statement, the company said the decision was made because the factory has a high relative cost of operation, and is unable to remain competitive. The plant employs 303, including 250 members of United Steelworkers Local 455.
