Conti raises car tyre prices in Germany - rest of Europe to follow

Hannover, Germany -- Continental will be increasing the list prices for its summer tyres in Germany by an average of 3 percent, and around 5 percent for winter tyres from 1st June 2010. The company blamed increases in the cost of natural rubber and oils and said it would raise prices across Europe in the coming weeks..
The price increases will apply to the Continental, Uniroyal, Semperit and Barum brands. "We are currently preparing to implement these price increases right across Europe, so they will be the same for our other tyre brands too" explained Dr. Hartmut Wöhler, Head of Marketing and Distribution for the Car Tyre Aftermarket in Europe and Africa.
