DSM Elastomers opens EPDM modification line in Brazil

Triunfo, Brazil -- DSM Elastomers' has delivered its first grafted products from the new reactive extruder (REX) line in Triunfo, Brazil. DSM said the first samples have been shipped to customers and commercial production will begin soon.
Next to viscosity index improvers for motor oils, the facility will produce a range of innovative functionalized EPDM materials for applications like e.g. plastics modification and adhesives. The unit is being used to graft functional groups onto the main EDM molecules. DSM said, "lant is considered top of line using state of the art technologies for reactive extrusion. The New Reactive Extruder line is fully integrated in the DSM Elastomers production site in Triunfo."
DSM previously said, "The line offers a more flexible, cost-effective production route for petroleum additives grades and allows customers to benefit from a cost-effectively produced product range, alongside the high-level service capabilities offered by DSM Elastomers."
The company did not reveal investment or the capacity of the new unit.
