BFS extends supply pact with TravelCenters, adds Petro locations
Nashville, Tennessee - Bridgestone/Firestone (BFS) has extended its truck tyre supply agreement with TravelCenters of America LLC through 2014.
The tyre maker last extended its long-standing arrangement with the travel chain in mid-2006. The latest extension now includes sales of Bridgestone- and Firestone-brand commercial tyres at TravelCenters' 65 full-service Petro Stopping Centres.
The supply arrangement dates to the early 1970s, officials said.
As part of the new agreement, the Bridgestone brand will be the “exclusive premium commercial tyre†to be sold by the stores, meaning Michelin and Goodyear brands will not be offered at the locations, said Tim Abel, senior account manager for BFS who handles the TravelCenters account.
TravelCenters also will offer Firestone, Yokohama and Kelly tyres plus BFS' Oncor retreads.
“Obviously it is a big deal to our national fleet strategy,†he told Tire Business, ERJ's sister publication, adding it will keep the products displayed prominently in many locations.
TravelCenters, which is being acquired by an investment firm for $1900 million (Euro 1276 million), operates more than 230 locations-including Petro-in 41 states and throughout Canada.
