Zodiac, Carlyle and Jandy form JV for boats, pools
Issy-le-Moulineaux, France -- Zodiac SA, best known for its inflatable boats has formed a joint venture with private equity company Carlyle Group and swimming pool company Jandy have formed a joint venture called Zodiac Marine & Pool. Carlyle owns 69 percent of then new company. Zodiac has 27 percent and the management team, led by Jean-Marc Daillance, owns the remaining 4 percent.
Zodiac has put its marine business into the venture, which includes the inflatable boat-manufacturing operations, but does not include areas such as flexible fuel tanks for aircraft.
In April 2006, Zodiac and Carlyle created a joint venture to buy Jandy Pool Products. Following that deal, Carlyle owns 80 percent of Jandy and Zodiac 20 percent. The new company brings together Jandy's operations with Zodiac's activities in pool care products with its Zodiac Marine operations.
