European car registrations continue gradual climb
Brussels, Belgium - Total new passenger car registrations in Europe (EU23 + EFTA) in October 2006 reached 1,209,209 units, improving by +3.6 percent (+3.2 percent in Western Europe) last year's figures. This year's result, although positively influenced by one extra working day with respect to October 2005 across the whole region, is a sign of recovery after four consecutive months of decline. The cumulative result was slightly enhanced by the October increase in new registrations and reached +0.4 percent.
Through the first ten months of the year, registrations rose by 0.4 percent, to 13 060 million units.
