FIA ends tyre wars in FI Grands Prix with rule changes

Paris — The World Motor Sports Council has approved a number of changes to the rules of future F1 Grands Prix. Some affect tyres.

In 2006, the WMSC says, “Each driver will be permitted to use seven sets of dry-weather tyres for each event. All tyres used for qualifying and race must be of the same specification. Tyre changes will be permitted at any time during the race.”

From 2008, and from 2007 if the technical Working Group agrees, there will be only one tyre supplier….
