TIA petitions NHTSA for tire pressure monitoring reconsideration

Washington D.C.–The US-based Tire Industry Association has petitioned the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for reconsideration of the final rule on tyre pressure monitoring systems the agency issued April 7.

“NHTSA has made what TIA believes to be a huge mistake,” TIA said regarding the agency’s decision to allow 20 minutes between the TPMS sensing a problem with a tyre and warning the driver.
