Cooper-Standard Automotive begins NVH operations in China
NOVI, Michigan (Nov. 10)--Cooper-Standard Automotive has begun making noise, vibration and harshness control systems at a temporary factory in China and soon will break ground on a permanent facility.
The firm currently is running its Chinese NVH manufacturing in an existing plant in Kunshan and will begin construction of a permanent factory by year's end. Production at that unit will begin by the end of 2005 and will include research and development operations. The new plant will make Cooper-Standard's full line of engine mounts, body mounts, bushings and other NVH control systems components.
No details on investment or size of the facility were revealed.
Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. is in the process of selling Cooper-Standard to two financial investment firms, but the sale is being held up by a pending lawsuit filed by the United Steelworkers of America, which represents workers at three Cooper-Standard locations.
