DuPont deal with Chinese compounder
By Patrick Raleigh, ERJ On-line news editor
Shanghai, China-DuPont Engineering Polymers has entered an exclusive licensing deal with an unnamed compounder in Shanghai, which will process several DuPont materials, including its Hytrel thermoplastic polyester elastomers.
The move is in response to rapidly growing demand for speciality engineering polymers in the market, according to a 19 May DuPont statement. Product from the Chinese firm is expected to be available from the fourth quarter of 2004, the US firm said.
“Local product supply from our certified compounder will enable us to keep up with the market pace and allow us to offer customers a broader product range in a more flexible manner,†said Minoru Amoh, the DuPont firm's director, Asia Pacific, in a press statement.
“We will continue to attend closely to the market dynamics and are prepared to serve the growing demand by further expanding our local supply capability in this important market,†added Lawrence Chang, DuPont's marketing manager, engineering polymers, Greater China.
