Brussels — Solvay has appointed An Nuyttens as president of the silica global business unit, succeeding Tom Benner who has left the group.
A Belgian national, Nuyttens holds a master’s degree in chemical engineering and an MBA in management, both from the Catholic University of Leuven (KUL), Belgium.
She joined Solvay in 1991 as technical manager in the group’s transformation department, before moving into marketing and sales.
Based in Europe and then in the US for five years, Nuyttens’ responsibilities grew within the specialty polymers activities. In 2005, she returned to Solvay HQ in Brussels to hold different business positions. She became worldwide manager of high barrier Polymers in 2012.
Nuyttens joined Silica’s management committee in June 2014 as strategy and marketing director.
