Nizhnekamskshina opens new car tyre line
Nizhnekamsk--Reports in the Russian press indicate that the country's largest tyre factory, Nizhnekamskshina, has opened a new tyre production line with projected capacity of 2 million units per year. The company's general director, Radik Ilyasov is quoted as saying the line will produce 500 000 units before the end of 2004. Although the story does not specify, it is highly probable that the line is for car tyres rather than truck. The investment is reported at $80 million.
The line is based on Pirelli technology and is currently making just two sizes, although a further six sizes will be introduced before the end of 2004, said the reports.
