Michelin ramps up Russian tyre plant

Paris-Groupe Michelin is to triple production at its passenger car tyre plant in Davydovo, near Moscow, to 6000 units/day by the end of 2005, according to a Michelin spokesman.
The project will involve an investment of Euro18 million, on top of the Euro70 million already invested in the plant, the group representative said in a telephone interview.
Employment at the Russian facility has reached 754 since its start up in late-2003, according the Michelin spokeman. However, he declined to comment on the anticipated size of the workforce by the end of next year.
