Bridgestone to supply Boeing's new 7E7 aircraft with tyres
Tokyo--Bridgestone Corp. has announced that it has signed a contract with Boeing Co. to supply radial and crossply aircraft tyres for fitment to all three models of Boeing's new Dreamliner aircraft. Bridgestone is currently the only tyre supplier with a contract for the Dreamliner range. Mike Bair, Boeing vice president and general manager of the 7E7 program said, “Every 7E7 will be delivered with Bridgestone tyres.â€
In a statement, Bridgestone said the tyres developed for the 7E7 Dreamliner family employ a new belt structure that features high-elasticity, high-strength cord. This new belt structure earned high regard from Boeing especially for its contribution to weight savings and to wear resistance. The Dreamliner aircraft are due in service from 2008.
