US firm makes wiper blades from silicone rubber
Ballston Spa, New York--A US-based company is selling windscreen wiper blades made from silicone rubber, as premium-quality aftermarket products. The company claims the blades will last five years, compared to the one-year life, typical of conventional blades made from natural rubber.
Silblade says its products use a silicone rubber supplied by General Electric and are formulated for strength and resilience. The company says it has developed a formulation that resists degradation due to UV and ozone.
