Carbon black demand to reach 10m tonnes in 2010
Amherst, Massachussetts--Notch Consulting Group has published the Carbon Black World Data Book 2004, and predicts demand for the material will reach 10.1 million tonnes in 2010. This represents volume growth of 3.5 percent annually, from the figure of 7.9 million tonnes in 2003, according to the company. Market value is forecast to rise 5.1 percent per year to $8100 million in 2010, equivalent to an average weighted value of $0.80 per kilogram, up from $5700 million and $0.72 per kilogram in 2003.
Notch says that 2004 saw 68 percent of carbon black consumption in the tyre sector and 24 percent in the non-tyre sector, with 8 percent in speciality applications
The Carbon Black World Data Book 2004 comprises 440 pages and includes 230 tables and figures. It is priced at $4500 for either the hard copy or the electronic (PDF) version, or $6500 for both versions.
