TIA blasts TPMS final rule
Washington, DC--The Tire Industry Association has joined the Rubber Manufacturers Association in condemning as inadequate the final rule on tire pressure monitoring systems issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
"Not only did they not lower the trigger threshold from 25 percent, but they went backwards on the time frame in which the system has to trigger--from 10 minutes to 20," said Becky MacDicken, TIA government affairs director. "This rule will not keep the motoring public safe." The TPMS rule was mandated under the Transportation Recall Enhancement, Accountability and Documentation Act.
