Ford names Conti as preferred supplier
Detroit, Michigan -- Ford Motor Co. has named Continental AG as a preferred supplier. On 1 Nov., the car maker added five companies to its preferred supplier listing, including Conti and four suppliers of goods and services not related to direct vehicle production.
Conti joins two other tyre makers on the list of 41 supplier companies. Pirelli and Hankook were named as preferred suppliers on 1 Dec., 2005.
On 29 Sept 2005, Ford Motor Company began entering into new Aligned Business Framework agreements with a limited number of selected suppliers to strengthen collaboration and develop a sustainable business model to drive mutual profitability and technology development. The agreements include an expansion of business to the select suppliers and will, over time, reduce by approximately 50 percent the number of suppliers for key high-impact parts and components.
