Firestone building new TPO roofing facility in US
Indianapolis -- Firestone Building Products Co. is constructing a new thermoplastic polyolefin manufacturing plant and distribution centre in Las Vegas.
Construction of the 256,000-sq.-ft. (23 000 m2) facility began in late 2006 and an opening is scheduled for the third quarter of 2007. The plant will increase Firestone´s total TPO membrane production lines to five, the company said.
The expansion helps Firestone better meet the growing regional demand for its heat-reflective UltraPly-brand TPO roofing systems and enables it to continue providing timely job site delivery, said company President Mike Gorey. "With the opening of this new facility, Firestone will have the largest TPO manufacturing capacity within the commercial roofing industry," he said.
Firestone also plans to build a new distribution center adjacent to its existing EPDM manufacturing plant and distribution center in Prescott, Arkansas
The 160,000-sq.-ft. (14 000 m2) facility will house Firestone´s complete line of single-ply roofing systems and rooftop accessories and position the firm to better serve customer demand, the company said. The distribution centre, which will give the company expanded storage capacity to serve its Prescott site, is scheduled to open in the late spring of this year.
