Ford is booming in Russia
ST. PETERSBURG, Russia -- Ford Motor Co. will boost production at its St. Petersburg, Russia, factory to meet booming demand for its cars. Ford expects Russian sales to grow 30 percent this year, to 150,000 units.
"We made a tremendous improvement last year in sales, and we could have sold more if we could have produced more locally," Ford of Russia President Henrik Nenzen told Automotive News Europe. He said Ford will increase production at its St. Petersburg plant 20 percent by increasing efficiency and by continuing to work three shifts up to six days a week.
