ContiTech grows printing blanket business in China
ERJ staff report (BC)
Northeim, Germany/Shanghai, China – With its Conti-Air and Phoenix Xtra printing blanket brands, ContiTech Elastomer Coatings claims to have increased sales in China by more than ten percent in the last 12 months.
Dr Thomas Perkovic, head of the printing blanket segment at ContiTech, said: "We are enjoying growth despite the slight slowdown in economic growth in China and the stagnation of the offset market worldwide."
With sales topping the market average in the NAFTA region, ContiTech has also picked up ground there.
The company points to products for sheet offset, packaging print, and metal decoration as factors driving growth. Another is a heightened awareness of quality and the environment. "Chinese printing shops are increasingly focusing on premium products that create an even more compelling print image and are more economical because they last longer," said Perkovic.
According to the company, environmental awareness is boosting demand for “climate-friendly” and “climate-neutral” blankets. ContiTech uses no solvents in production, and cites optimisation of its procedures to ensure that carbon dioxide emissions are much lower than with standard products.
