Brandnetics holds valve cap seminar
Stockport, UK -Â Brandnetics held a seminar to present its tyre pressure valve cap last week. The company showed its caps which emit a pulse of flashing light when the pressure falls below a pre-set level.
The company has developed a range of valve caps powered by integrated batteries. When the cap is screwed on, a valve opens to admit air from the tyre into a small cell within the cap. This is protected by a one-way valve that allows air in , but does not allow it to escape, so the pressure in the cell is a record of the pressure when the cap was installed. If the pressure on the other side of the cap falls by 4 psi (0.28 bar) -Â or 8psi in commercial vehicles -Â then the cell expands, actuating a mechanism which makes a circuit, causes tan LED to generate pulses of light.
If the pressure in the tyre is restored, then the flashing will stop once the valve cap is replaced. If the pressure in the tyre is higher than the original set presure, then the one-way valve admits more air into the cell and the cap will 'remember' the new pressure.
A set of 4 valve caps will retail for just £15.99 inc. vat, said the company.
