Vita sells Calendering business to Excel Polymers
Manchester, UK -Â Excel Polymers LLC has acquired Vita-Calender, the specialised rubber processing unit of British Vita, based in Salford, UK. The acquisition, completed on 16 July, will merge Vita-Calender's Salford operations with EXLP Global (UK) Ltd, the Rolls Business unit of Excel Polymers LLC, located in Mossley, UK. Both cities are suburbs of Manchester, UK.
Both Vita-Calender and Excel produce rubber compounds for industrial rollers. In addition, Vita brings calendered sheet and rotocure technology, said Excel.
The new organisation, will be led by Edmund Dowdall, European business manager, formerly of British Vita. Tony Hallworth, currently business manager for EXPL (UK) will become a commercial manager in the new company. “As global leaders in rubber compounding, we clearly identified the synergy that exists between these two organisations,†said John Quinn, President and CEO of Excel Polymers LLC.
“With the addition of Vita-Calender's business capabilities into EXPL Global Ltd, we are now a global supplier with a leadership position in Europe, North America, and Asia,†explained Steve Chase, General Manager of Excel Polymers' rolls business. “Vita-Calender's reputation for quality, technology, and service fit our value proposition perfectly - enabling us to enhance the products and services we deliver to our customers.â€
A spokesman for Excel Polymers said both the Vita site in Salford and the Excel site in Mossley are currently operating and the company has not made any decision yet on the future of the personnel or equipment at either site. The spokesman said a business decision would be made in due course -Â probably in the last quarter of 2007.
