Lanxess raises EPDM prices globally
ERJ staff report (DS)
Leverkusen, germany -- Effective January 1, 2008, Lanxess Technical Rubber Products (TRP) business unit is to increase its prices worldwide for EPDM rubber grades (ethylene-propylene-diene rubber) by up to EUR 200 per metric ton or USD 290 per metric ton respectively depending on market region and product specifications.
Lanxess said, "In spite of a continuous improvement in production efficiency, the Lanxess speciality chemicals group feels forced to take this step owing to significant increases in the costs of raw materials and energy."
Marketed under the proprietary name Buna EP, this material is used primarily in seals for the automotive, construction and electrical industries due to its good resistance against chemicals, UV rays and weathering.
