Kraton releases new polymer for TPE-S compounds
ERJ staff report (SS)
Houston, Texas - Kraton Polymers LLC has released its new G1633 polymer which it claims will create new opportunities for TPE-S (styrenic thermoplastic elastomer) compounds in high temperature, high performance applications.
The company said, in a 17 Dec statement that the polymer can improve the compression set and stress relaxation of TPE-S compounds at temperatures over 70 degrees Celsius and allows the production of TPE-S compounds with a broad hardness range, excellent oil extendibility, very good processability in both extruded and injection moulded applications, recyclability and extensive bonding possibilities when compared to alternative material solutions.
“Its excellent combination of physical, hardness and processing properties makes it the ideal solution for maximising the performance of TPE-S compounds when high temperature performance is required,†said Kevin Fogarty, executive VP of Kraton Polymers, in the statement.
Kraton G1633 is acceptable for use under FDA and European regulations for direct food contact applications, and meets requirements under the US Pharmacopoeia (USP) Class VI Biological Reactivity Tests.
