Hella launches TPMS system
ERJ staff report (DS)
Lippstadt, Germany -- Hella KGaA Hueck & Co. has launched a tyre pressure monitoring system aimed at the aftermarket.
The TC-400 system includes a portable display unit with internal alarms and four pressure sensors, which replace the valves. Hella said these must be fitted by a specialised garage. Hella said, "After balancing and inflation of the tyres, the wheels can be fitted again, and, via the control fields of the display, the system is programmed with the current pressure as a reference value (nominal pressure). After these steps, the system is ready for operation. "
The unit can monitor up to seven tyres -- two at the front, up to four at the rear and a spare.
Hella is selling the system for Euro 300, with spare sensors at Euro 60 each. On Amazon.com, the price is $179
