Freudenberg upgrades Weinheim compounding unit
ERJ staff report (DS)
Weinheim, Germany -- Freudenberg Seals and Vibration Control Technology is investing more than a million euros in its material development plant at the Weinheim facility and is adding a new batch-off unit to each of its two largest mixing lines.
Freudenberg said the Weinheim unit primarily produces compounds for the Freudenberg seals manufactured throughout Europe. The order situation has been so good that the plant has been running at full capacity and has finally run up against its limits.
The investment is designed to improve productivity and increase production capacity. More than 9000 metric tons of compound will be produced by this plant in Weinheim this year and will then be transformed into seals for the automotive industry, the mechanical and systems engineering sectors and many other branches of industry.
The first batch-off installation, which is more than 20 meters long and four and a half meters high, has just gone into service and the second is expected to follow during the summer months.
