Conti cutting back truck tyre output in Europe
Hanover, Germany -- Continental AG is cutting truck tire production by 6.5 percent at three European plants through year-end in response to declining demand.
Conti warned that up to 120 jobs in Germany could be cut permanently.
Demand for truck tyres in Europe is expected to fall about 10 percent this year, a company spokesman said, prompting the decision to reduce output. The changes will affect plants in Otrokovice, Czech Republic; Puchov, Slovak Republic; and Stöcken, Germany.
Goodyear recently said it is cutting back truck tyre production in Europe, due to reduced sales and higher stocks.
