ECHA announces new chairman, publishes IT tools

Helsinki, Finland -- The Management Board of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) elected the Austrian member Dr. Thomas Jakl as its new Chair at the Board meeting in Helsinki on 24-25 September. He also chaired this Board meeting.
ECHA said Jakl has broad experience in international chemicals policy and was a member of ECHA Management Board from the start. He Jakl heads the Chemicals Policy Department of the Austrian Ministry of Environment and was also head of the Austrian delegation in the negotiation process on the REACH Regulation, in particular during the Austrian EU Presidency 2007.
The group has lso published two assistant tools. The Inquiry Dossier Preliminary Check Tool has been designed to assist companies in the preparation of Inquiry dossiers. It enables the identification of the IUCLID 5 fields that should be filled in to submit an Inquiry dossier. In addition, an Inquiry Q&A has also been published on the ECHA website. This documenthas been developed to provide practical advice to stakeholders on the Inquiry process. TheInquiry Q&A has been prepared on the basis of the questions received by the ECHAhelpdesk. It will be updated, as appropriate, based on further questions received by theECHA helpdesk.
