Michelin to sell off-road TPMS worldwide
ERJ staff report (DS)
Stoke-on-Trent , UK -- Michelin has announced that its Michelin Earthmover Management System (MEMS) is now available around the world. The global rollout follows an extensive series of field trials that began in 1996 and the system's launch in North and South America in 2006.
MEMS stores, transfers and analyses tyre data and can be integrated with existing tyre management systems to improve monitoring, maintenance, uptime and tyre life.
MEMS includes electronic tags located in each tyre and an on-board receiver in the vehicle cab. The tags transmit real-time pressure and temperature data to the receiver, which relays the information to the mine control centre. The data can also be sent via a handheld unit, which is used for external monitoring of tyres on trucks while they are in operation. Real-time controls reduce the vehicle downtime needed to verify and adjust tyre pressures.
