ERJ staff report (TP)
Indianapolis, Indiana − Firestone Building Products (FBP), the US manufacturer and supplier of commercial building products, announced on 3 December that it has agreed to acquire the manufacturing assets and brands of Terrassa, Spain-based Giscosa and Giscolene.
The press release said that the acquisition of the Giscosa Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) plant near Barcelona expands Firestone's global manufacturing and distribution capabilities and product offering, and represents the company's first overseas manufacturing facility. Financial details of the transaction are not being made available. The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
"Expanding Firestone's manufacturing capacity overseas is part of our strategy to position the company to better serve the needs of our European and global customers," said Tim Dunn, President of FBP.
The acquisition provides Firestone with additional capabilities and products, including the manufacture of EPDM for use around windows and other building openings, as well as clean sheets, thinner gauge sheets and different width sheets.
Firestone is a division of Bridgestone Americas, a subsidiary of Bridgestone Corporation. Its headquarters is in Indianapolis, Indiana.
