NR price hits new record in India

London -- Prices of nartural rubber rose to new record highs in India today. The price of RSS4 hit Rs 155/kg ($3.40/kg) earlier today, as fears of supply shortages and news of record demand fromCHina fuelled concerns of buyers. On the NMCE, the rubber contract for July 2010 hit a high just below Rs 160/kg, though later fell back to close at Rs 158.
In Singapore shortterm contracts for RSS3 closed at $3.335/kg, while longer-dated contracts closed at around $3.20.
In Tokyo the price was hovering around Yen 300 ($3.32), though again, longer-dated contracts were priced lower at around yen 290 ($3.20)
