US butyl recycler for sale - reports
ERJ staff report (DS)
Vicksburg Mississippi -- The United States biggest recycler of butyl rubber is up for sale, according to a local newspaper. The Clarion Ledger said U.S. Rubber Reclaiming Inc. issued a press release saying it is for sale.
USRR operates a facility in Vicksburg, Mississippi, totaling nearly 87,000 square feet. Expansion during the 1990's, together with improved production efficiency, has allowed production capacity to grow to more than 2.2 million pounds (1000 tonnes) per month, or more than 26 million pounds per year.
The company was acquired in 2001 by Obsidian Enterprises, a private holding company headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. Obsidian invests in small- and mid-cap companies in basic industries such as manufacturing and transportation.
The aim is for the existing management to continue under a new shareholder. USRR President Don LaGrone said, "We continue to feel there is a very good business opportunity in converting this material into a high quality, 100 percent wire free mulch product."
