ERJ staff report (RD)
Hanover, Germany -- Continental has highlighted its Conti-V Pioneer as the first wrapped V-belt to be given a “BlueConcept†label, a recent company statement said.
To be given a BlueConcept label, Conti said, products must:
• Make use of renewables so as to conserve natural resources;
• Replace chemical ingredients with natural ingredients, and;
• Reduce energy consumption and minimise the release of substances into the environment.
According to Conti, the Pioneer V-belt contains no carbon black and uses vegetable oils, mineral fillers, chalk and cotton yarn.
Properties include high strength and stability, minimal elongation, long service life, optimum application of force and operational reliability, the statement said.
The Conti-V Pioneer was recently awarded the Association for Innovation in German Industry Future Award 2010, Conti added.
