JK Tyre reports sales up 32% in Q2

Chennai, India -- JK Tyre and Industries has reported sales up 32 percent to Rs 1272 million for the second quarter of 2010 (Q2), a 14 Aug company statement said.
Operating profit and profit before tax in Q2 were Rs 73 million and Rs 30 million, respectively.
Commenting on the quarter, JK said natural rubber and other raw material costs “escalated phenomenally,†impacting margins, as tyre prices could not be raised adequately.
