Zeon to build 70kt/year S-SBR plant in Singapore

Tokyo -- Zeon Corp. has announced the new construction of Solution Polymerised Styrene-Butadiene Rubber (SSBR) plant on Jurong Island in Singapore. The company envisages two phases, each with annual capacity for between 30 000 and 40 000 tonnes, building a total capacity of around 70kt/year. First production is due to begin in July 2013.
The announcement is the third relating to S-SBR capacity on Jurong Island by different companies in recent months. In November 2010, Sumitomo Chemical announced a 40kt/year S-SBR plant due on stream in June 2013. In October last year Asahi Kasei Chemicals announced a 50kt/year plant on the Island, also due on stream in June 2013.
