Cheng Shin brings forward tyre plant - report
ERJ staff report (DS)
Taipei -- Cheng Shin has made changes to its tyre capacity plans in Taiwan, according to a report on the Taiwan Economic News service, CENS.
The report said Cheng Shin has experienced delays in purchasing land for a planned truck tyre plant in the Changnan Science Park in Changhua County, central Taiwan. As a result, it has switched intentions and now wants to build a car tyre plant in Touliu`s Yunlin Science Park
The new plant represents an investment of around NT$6000 million (euro 150 million) and will make up to 18 000 car tyres daily, with production beginning in the third quarter of 2011.
CENS also noted that Cheng Shin plans some changes in capacities in China, accelerating construction of a car tyre plant in Chongqing, Sichuan province, with production of 26 000 tyres daily before the end of 2011.
