ERJ staff report (BC)
West Drayton, UK – At the CV Show 2014 (Birmingham, UK, 29 April-1 May, Continental Tyres will showcase the first two products from a new goods vehicles range – the ContiEcoPlus and the Conti Hybrid.
The ContiEcoPlus long-distance range is claimed to provide best-in-class fuel saving performance, along with excellent mileage, and retread capability. The ContiEcoPlus HT3 trailer tire is claimed to offer a 26 per cent improvement in rolling resistance over its predecessor, achieving an A label rating for fuel efficiency.
A number of sizes for steer and drive axles, ContiEcoPlus HS3 and HD3 will follow shortly. The phased launch of the ContiHybrid, Continental’s new regional range, will start from the second half of 2014. These tires are designed to bridge the gap between long-distance journeys and the stop-start style of town driving. Engineers have prioritised mileage performance while ensuring good fuel efficiency and retreadability. In 2014 Continental will launch the Conti Hybrid in 22.5 and 19.5 steer (Hybrid HS3), in 19.5 drive and trailer (Hybrid HD3 and HT3), and in 17.5 steer and drive (Hybrid LS3 and Hybrid LD3).
The company will present case studies at the show demonstrating how its ContiPressureCheck tire pressure management system (TPMS) has had “tangible effects” on reducing tire breakdowns and the associated cost and inconvenience, as well as making drivers more conscientious.
The Continental Tyres team will be available to talk about their products and services at the CV Show 2014, NEC Birmingham, on stand D70, hall 5.
