Global tyre sales increase in January

Pirelli has posted new tyre sales data on its website.
In the truck segment European OE sales jumped 83 percent over January 2010, while replacement tyres increased 17 percent.
In the Americas, OE truck sales increased 58 percent and replacement sales increased 15 percent. The Mercosur region also increased in January, with OE sales up 16 percent and replacement sales up by 11 percent.
Japanese sales of replacement truck tyres were up by 24 percent. Data from China is not yet available.
In the consumer segment, European tyre sales were up by 13 perent in OE and by 14 percent in replacement.
OE slaes in the NAFTA region rose by 16 percent in Janaury, with replacement sales up by 14 percent. In the Mercosur region, OE sales were up by 7 percent, but replacement sales fell by 7 percent in January.
Japanese replacement sales increased 16 percent. CHina data was not available.
