Cuba to add three modern retread plants
ERJ staff report (DS)
Havana, Cuba -- The Cuban Union Nacional de Gomas (National Tires Group) has told the local news agency that UNG is to add three retread facilities to the existing five retread units in the country with the aim of using more retreads and reducing imports of truck tyres.
Rolando Alfonso Sanchez, director of UNG told the Cuban News Agency (ACN) that new facilities would be installed in the provinces of Mayabeque, Santiago de Cuba and Camaguey.
ACN said 90,000 tyres were retreaded in Cuba in 2010 last year, which saved the Cuban economy 13 million dollars.
