Sumitomo re-opens Shirakawa tyre plant

Kobe, Japan - Sumitomo Rubber's Shirakawa Factory resumed its operations on Tuesday March 22. The operations had been suspended since the earthquake and tsunami hit Northern Japan on March 11.
The company said it resumed production of passenger car and light truck tyres in limited sizes on Tuesday 22 March and expects to produce truck and bus tyres by the end of this week.
In a statement, it said, “The production quantity will be increased gradually, depending on power supply, distribution, material procurement and other circumstances.â€
