China recalls 70,000 cars on Kumho tyres

Beijing -- China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) has said over 70 000 Chinese-built cars are being recalled, due to defects in KUmho-brand tyres fitted as original Equipment. Kumho has recently apologised for using too much recycled material in its tyres.
The AQSIQ said about 64 000 cars from Hyundai will be recalled from 15 April. The vehicles affected were all built between 4 June 2008 and 13 January 2011. The affected models include Elantra, Yuet move, Accent, Yu Xiang, Tucson, Rainer, Yu and I30
About 5000 vehicles from Great Wall are being recalled from 15 April. The vehicles were all built between 30 October 2008 and 28 January 2011. The affected models include Tengyi C30.
About 6000 vehicles from Kia are being recalled from 15 April. The vehicles were all 2008/2009 Cerato model year cars. Kia is also recalling 788 European-built models.
