DESMA showcases latest tech at Moscow show
ERJ staff report (TP)
Moscow – Elastomer injection moulding technology specialist DESMA is at the Moscow Tires & Rubber Exhibition to demonstrate its latest technology.
ERJ spoke with Rainer Bantle, Head of Project Engineering Dept., yesterday (23 April) about their new machines and the firm’s long-term involvement in the region.
“For the Russian market – it’s a market which needs, of course, the latest technology, but it has to be proven technology,” he said.
“So the Russian market does not look into the smallest detail in control but more in efficient processing and that’s good for DESMA as we have reliable machinery. So we do develop specially for this market.
“Our latest technology is pressure sensors to control each cavity separately by injecting the volume and we can control different volumes in one mould. It was developed just a couple of months ago and we showed it at the K Show first.”
The company has been exhibiting at the Moscow show for ten years, but has been active in Russia since 1966. Bantle said their average turnover in Russia has been around €2-3m. In 2012 it was particularly good – thanks to some very large projects.
“We had a strong relationship with Russia even before the political changes here and in East Germany.”
In terms of the future Russian market, Bantle said: “We expect very positive growth, but every customer asks questions about Ukraine and the financial situation.
“At the moment it is restricted a bit. Sometimes customers hold on with payment to make sure they get their equipment.”
Bantle also explained the company’s plans for 2014.
“We know Russian industry is growing and looking for injection moulding technology to modernise their existing equipment.
“We are able to provide a complete package to allow customers to have the proven article before the equipment leaves DESMA.”
